Dr. Ioannis N. Liras, MD, FAAFP, CAQSM is a U.S.-trained, board-certified sports medicine physician with expertise in non-operative orthopedic care, musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided procedures, sideline medicine, and return-to-play decision-making. In addition to his academic and faculty appointments, he serves as a Team Physician for Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi Athletics, caring for NCAA Division I athletes across multiple sports.

His clinical and consulting work has involved athletes and organizations connected to collegiate, professional, Olympic, and international athlete pathways. Dr. Liras focuses on practical, athlete-centered medical guidance that supports injury recovery, performance readiness, durability, and long-term career health.

Beyond clinical care, Dr. Liras contributes to research and education, with work spanning sports injuries, sideline emergencies, concussion, RED-S, fatigue monitoring, and the use of medical technology and performance devices in athlete care.

As Co-Founder of SportsMed Global Health Consulting, Dr. Liras works with athletes, coaches, teams, leagues, federations, and sport organizations to translate high-level sports medicine principles into practical clinical strategies for injury evaluation, return-to-play decision-making, medical coverage, athlete education, and performance health.
