
Sports Medicine Physician | Co-Founder
Dr. George N. Liras, DO, MS, FAAFP, CAQSM is a U.S.-trained, board-certified sports medicine physician with extensive experience in professional, collegiate, Olympic, and international sport. He currently serves as Head Team Physician for Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi Athletics, supporting an NCAA Division I athletic department across multiple sports, and holds academic and leadership roles in sports medicine education, athletic training, and medical training.
Internationally, Dr. Liras serves as a medical consultant to the EuroLeague Head Coaches, contributing to athlete and coach initiatives, medical education, and performance-health systems. His broader sports medicine experience includes work with U.S. Soccer, USA Boxing, the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, and multiple professional and elite sport environments.
Dr. Liras’ work focuses on the intersection of athlete health, injury prevention, return-to-play, fatigue, recovery, lifestyle, and organizational medical systems. He has presented at major international sports medicine conferences and has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and educational resources in sports medicine.
As co-founder of SportsMed Global Health Consulting, Dr. Liras helps athletes, teams, leagues, federations, and sports organizations develop evidence-based medical, education, and performance-health strategies. Raised in Greece and trained in the United States, he brings a unique ability to understand European sports culture while applying high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, evidence-based practice, and athlete-centered care.
